  1. I built my computer a couple years ago and it's considered a dinosaur now. I'm not sure if it can handle a DVD burner. Can a PIII 733 processor with 639mb ram handle a DVD burner?

I plan on building a new computer a few months down the road, but would like to buy the dvd burner now if it'll work with what I currently have.

  3. Running one on a duron 750 with 512 ram. Mind you its all it does is rip and burn and never at the same time.
So long as you have a good bit od H/D space to work with you will be OK, unless you only have a small power supply and already have lots of drain on it already.

  4. That sounds like good news to me! I have plenty of HD space. I actually just installed a second HD recently. I still run Win98se. I know I have a file size limit, but I can work around it until I upgrade to WinXP. I just wanted to make sure it could burn dvd's without errors.

I'll use it to backup some dvd's but my main use will be to put digital camcorder movies on dvd and copying other dvd-r or dvd+r. I've been using svcd and vcd format for a while but can't take it anymore!

  5. Hi,

I bought a Sony DRU-510A burner to be put in a new system; but it can't be built for another month. Will it work if I put it in my older PII machines for now and back up data? I have a PII 400 with 1GB of memory, and a dual PII 350 with 512 MB of ram, both running Win2K Pro. The Sony box says minimum system requirement is PII 400; but recommended system is a PIII... And the data is actually stored on the dual PII 350. Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance...

  6. Why not give it a try can only waste a disk if it dont work. I would try to close as many background apps as possible so burner can hog all resources it needs.
Min Specs properly relate to software provided rather then the drive its self.
