  1. I am currently using Nero 5.5 and am quite happy with it. Is there a compelling reason why I should make the move to Nero 6 Ultra? New features/capabilities, etc? Anything COOL? Any issues?

    Any input would be great!

    Thanks !!!

Nero 5.5 hasn't stopped doing what I need it to do, so I really don't see the point, and haven't bothered to upgrade to 6.

As with all software updates, there is always the possibility that newer versions may not like your existing hardware (this is a pessimistic view).
I generally update my software ASAP but the odd one bites. If you are comfortable using your current version and not having any problems, stick with it. Either that or make sure you can rollback the newer version.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. Thanks for the replies. I am quite happy with 5.5 and it does everything I need it to for now.

Sacjaweda -- I guess what I don't know is what do or do better 6 does that 5 does not. Currently I do not have a DVD burner. Is 6 better equipped to burn DVD's? Can 5.5 burn DVD's? I don't see a wizard for it but that maybe due to the fact that it does not detect a DVD Burner?

jimmalenko -- I agree with your assessment. Thank goodness for "System Restore" on XP. I always create a restore point when installing new software or drivers.

I upgraded to 6 because I got it with my DVD burner and have had no worries whatsoever. I think you may be right when you say that Nero is not displaying any DVD options because it can't detect a burner.

I think the only problems with Nero 6 have eminated with DVD burners - I have not heard of any problems with CD burners.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Until the release of V 6.3 I decided to stay with V5xx due to the issues with WIN XP / IMAPI where the message " Drive being used by another application " would not allow some drives to be accessed.

6.3 appears to have solved that problem. Been using it with 100% great results with DVD / Movie, burnign Image files to disk from .Cue and as well as all other types of burnings. I think it is escellent at least for me and my present setup. BTW I also use at work with both my WIN 2000 Pentium 4 / 2.8 processor systems.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
