  1. The audio plays fine on the MPEG-1 encoded by TMPEnc. But, once it is burned, then played, the audoio is out of sync. I read an earlier post regarding the audio sampling rate may be wrong. But, I know I set it to 44100 in TMPEnc. It wont let you encode it otherwise. Should I be doing something to the audio in DVD2AVI????

There are two types of desync - offset , where the audio constantly lags or leads the video by the same amount over the whole film,

and drift, where they start in sync but get progressively further apart as the movie goes on.

Which one do you have ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

If the mpeg is Ok then it has to be your burning method, your media or your player. How is the sync when you play the disk in your computer? Are you burning with nero or something else? What is your burning speed? Good disks? Not making an XVCD by chance? Have you tried the disks in another player?

  4. I have this one --> and drift, where they start in sync but get progressively further apart as the movie goes on.

this is what i am doing:
    1)ripping dvd (smartripper)
    2)framsserving (dvd2avi)
3)encoding mpeg-1 file for VCD burn. During this I am chaning the bitrate 'n stuff so it fits on one CD. Could this be the problem???
    4)burning mpeg-1 to VCD

kthe final mpeg-1 file produced by tmpenc has the above-mentioned lag. fine in the beginnning.

oh, and this happens whether it is DVD->VCD, or Divx->VCD

    thanks for the quick reply.

  6. I dont think I am using any dolby audio options. just the normalization and no 48->41mhz.

    I do get a d2v and a wav file.
