I have edited (censored) a number of DVD movies so that the kids can watch them. Now my oldest wants to listen to the commentaries of certain movies. Since I'm the nice dad that I am I said I would try to include the commentary tracks when I edit a movie.

Editing a DVD while keeping multiple audio tracks seems to be a more complicated task. The following is my proposed process recipe.

DVDDecryptor - spliting the video, audio, and subtitle segments
Subrip - to transfer subtitles to a text file to search for cus words
HeadAC3he - transfer AC3 audio tracks to WAV
WavePurity - Audio editor to fill cus word segments with silence
TMPGEnc- convert WAV tracks to MP2
IfoEdit - combine video and multiple audio MP2 tracks to VOBs
DVDShrink - cut out certain sex and violence scenes [I know, some of you probably would like to cut out everything else]. I don't know of another program than can edit VOBs with multiple audio. I also can’t think of a cheap or free program than can edit un-encoded video and multiple audio tracks simultaneously.
    DVDLab - Author the VOBs

    Is there a better way?

Well, your reply at least let me know they are out there; so after a quick Google, I found Audacity (free) which will let me CENSOR multiple tracks simultaneously. Now if I could find something inexpensive that will edit the video and the multitrack audio.

If you cut less than 10 parts out of the movie, you could use DVD Shrink.

Rip the movie to HD (all files) and use DVD Shrink with the re-author feature and select the start-end points for each title. DVD Shrink will make a seperate titleset for each clip. all the audio and subtitle tracks will be there. The chapters will be re-numbered for each titleset.

    Hope this helps
