  1. Friend of mine gave me a copy of Bad Boys 2 that he made using CloneDVD. The copy will not play in my standalone players but will play on MY PC and is recognized as a DVD on the PC. I believe something must be screwed up with the IFO files. Can I simply reauthor the disk using DVD Shrink or do I need to use something along the lines of IFO Edit.

Are you sure you player will play that particular media (+/-R, manufacturer)? There is no guarantee any particular DVDR will play in your player.

If it plays in PowerDVD/WinDVD on your PC then it's not screwed up. It's also not technically legal for you to view your friends 'backup', he has to give you the original, and he can't watch the backup while you ahve it :P

  3. The media does play on my standalone players as I've used the Ritek's before and they work fine. I know it has to be some type of IFO authoring error. My question is will a simple DVD Shrink reauthoring fix this problem.

I believe you should ask your friend he/she had done any IFO editing during backup process. Some standalones are less forgiving than PCs so even one command can screw things up. In your case, re-authoring might work if you just want the movie only. If your DVD has menus then something is wrong in the PGC Command tables.

Note: DVD Shrink is very good at analysing the files so if there was any errors then you'll know about it.

    I agree with DoubleShadowIce!

I also always use IfoEdit's 'Get VTS sectors' command on DVDShrink output to even things out with incompatibilities!! Hasnt failed me yet!

    BTW, copyright issues??? :P
