My DVDS75EBS plays SVCDs. My mum has an E50 - i shall check that tonight for SVCD. It does however play SVCD on DVDs (DVD-SVCD)

SVCD is used so little, I wouldnt bother adding it to my DVD recorder (if i made one!). How many people actually own an original SVCD disc ?. Ive never seen one, the only original VCDs I own are the Star Wars Trilogy Box Set.

Tell you the truth. If I buy DVD Recorder, I will record with it and I will not use it to play since I would like to keep it as long as I can

it won't even play CVD's which i'm told are a legit resolution for dvd players? -
Just tested SVCD in DMR-E80H. It was thinking that it is VCD and could not handle higher bittrate. Very-very choppy. Just thought to share my experience.

"andydd" "thoots" There nothing wrong about making a DVD player able to play SVCD if you do not use it what do you care, but if some else has a reason for it. It's better to support the VCD and SVCD format. Just give more reason to buy that product. I see this from a marketing point of view.
There are ton's of people that use SVCD people that capture TV show's. SVCD is very easy to use just burn MPEG 2 file and pop the disc in. Alot of people like SVCD better the DVD. one hour show one disc in VBR mode and CBR mode one half hour show or two half hour show in VBR mode. People at www.dazzlegeek.com burn alot of SVCD. Alot of people start to use SVCD format when DVD burner's cost an arm and a leg.Even when the Pioneer AO3 came out it was $500.00 dollars and $10.00 dollar's for one DVD-R.
There are alot of thing we do and not do. Just because you do not do some thing does not mean there's no one else doing it. Hell I hate the "LIFETIME NETOWORK" would I cancel the network. No there some one out there adn I do not kow where but there some watching that network.
What I'm saying if there no extra cost or a very small amount make your product the best. Do not give other people a reason to buy another product.
I have APEX AD-5131 DVD player best DVD player for SVCD's and VCD's. I also have Pioneer DVD, JVC DVD player, and a Sony DVD player all support VCD and SVCD
