  1. I am one of the unhappy users that encountered different problems (see my posts under other threads for details) using the Super DVD drive.

Are there any 'happy' users of this drive out there? If yes, can somebody share with us which media (esp. DVD+RW) can be used? What software are compatible? Or maybe other tricks that can make things better?

From what I've read around the Web, Iomega uses its own DVD+RW writing technique that is not compatible with the rest of the DVD+RW universe. Formatting a DVD+RW takes four minutes but verifying the disc takes until you finally have to restart the computer.

I *had* to deal with DVD+RW discs that I could move from DVD player to DVD recorder, etc., and finally gave up on the Super Drive. Iomega is in severe denial that there is anything wrong (not to mention that it perpetrates fraud.. again... by stating the drive supports DVD-RAM but not mentioning upfront that it does not support 2-sided DVD-RAM).

I reinstalled my OEM'd Ricoh 5125A and no problem, although I miss the 4x burning speed.
