When I try to capture video through my WinTV stereo PCI card, it will not work if I am viewing video in "Overlay" mode; I have to switch to "Preview" mode.
Preview mode is much coarser looking and slower than Overlay mode. Is there any way to capture the video and stay in Overlay mode?
My video card is an Elsa TNT2 card.
If it is possible to capture in Overlay mode maybe the frame rates will rise, dropped frames will decrease, and quality of the video will increase?

If you try to capture at more than 240 lines, check this page out:
http://www.virtualdub.org/docs_capture
It explains why there is frame loss and why overlay mode won't work.
