  1. ....is there anyway to copy menus on to the HDD of the panasonic when recording a dvd-r from my dvd player...i guess the best way to say it is: can you make "exact clones" of a dvd-r that has had menus and chapters added to it, and have it be fully functional?????
    thanks in advance!

  2. I would say NO, based on what I know now, but I never tried it.

  3. Most certainly you cannot. You can record what the main menu looks like but you cannot use it as a menu.

Well, you might be able to accomplish essentially what you want by using DVD-RAM. It all depends upon what exactly it is you want to do.

If this "DVD-R" you're trying to "copy menus" from is one you made, dubbing from the hard drive to DVD-R, then you could just do another dubbing session onto a DVD-RAM disc after you've made that DVD-R. That would give you on that DVD-RAM disc essentially exactly what you had on the hard drive. Then, if you wanted to make more DVD-R's just like the one you had, you could just dub the programs from the DVD-RAM disc back to the hard drive, and then you could make more DVD-R's with further dubbing sessions.

Generally, your "menus" will be made automatically by the DVD recorder -- it will compile the menus from the names of the programs you dub over to the DVD-R. The only "extra work" you'd have to do to finish up a new DVD-R would be to give the disc an overall title name, then finalize the thing.

I'm not sure if this is a solution to what you want to do or not, but this is essentially the way to "save programs so you can make more DVD-R's out of them later" on one of these hard drive machines. I hope it helps!
