  1. I've been having a few problems with DVD-Lab, so I took it on recommendation to try TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA) since I use TMPGEnc as my encoder. It seems to be an okay program, but I can't figure the menu creation system out.

I would like to create my own menus. I just want to create simple menus and do not require background music or motion. What I have problems with in TDA is the ability to remove buttons and thumbnails that the program puts in its templates. I want to be able to make my own template and layout from scratch. Also, I put in my own background image, but it does not fit in the TV safe zone. Is there any way to resize it within TDA?

I appreciate any help you can give. The only problem I had with DVD-Lab was that I had jumps in the video on my completed DVD's.

    Thanks

  2. As far as I know TMPGEnc DVD Author is not capable of doing what you want in the menu. I have not found a way to delete a menu button. You can minimize the size and put it outside the safe zone but that is it.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

  3. You cannot resize a BMP or JPEG image directly in TMPGenc Author, although the program will stretch or compress the image in order to fill the frame. This is sometimes acceptable, but for best results you need a photo editor program like Photoshop to do this properly. Even a simple app (cheaper) will do this.

  4. answers to your questions...

    1. Buttons CAN NOT be removed alltogether, BUT my suggestion is to make the button as small as it can get and place it outside the tv safe zone and create your vobs, THEN, get yourself a proggy called 'MenuEdit v2.3.0' and open the vobs in menuedit. Menuedit gives you the ability to delete buttons! (but NOT the button image itsself, its ingrained in the picture [hence moving it outside the tv safe area]. this deletion simply results in a 'jump' over the button you have deleted) (so you will never be able to press the buton, simple? or did i confuse you?)

    2. images CAN NOT be resized in tmpgenc (tmpgenc does this crapy stretch thing that stuffs it all up) i suggest you use good ol adobe photoshop and choose:
canvas size, increase in all directions by 50 pixels (doesent matter whats on it caus it gets cut by the tv anyway)

so thats your two problems solved :P
