I've always used the soundcard's recording software (SoundBlaster stuff) SOUNDFORGE to edit and correct audio ... this is all WAV format so far ... and then use CLEANER 5 to convert to 160k MP3.

    Hey Timef,

I have done this successfully using Nero's Wave Editor. It works pretty slick. You can clean up the hiss and any other noise that is in the tape. It will also save the format to MP3 after you are done doing your edits.
You can also use your MusicMatch. I have it also, but have never tried that method. [/img]

Even Windows itself has "Audiorecorder". I think only Windows 98 limited the amount (time) of the recording.....or did the limit START with Windows 98?....Hmmmm.

  6. Connect a wire from the stereo to the line in of the sound card, you can get adapters at Radio Shack or make your own wire. I use creative recorder and record it, then music match to convert it to mp3.

  7. I like www.cdwave.com to record WAV, Audacity is another good one that can convert to MP3(with lame_enc.dll).

You own a $400USD piece of software and don't know how to record from your soundcard?
Select line-in as source and hit the record button.

As bugster would say, RTFM. It's easy to figure out just by looking at it, at least I thought so.
