adding subititle to vcd mpeg file

hi,
i have a mpeg vcd file but wished to add subtitle permanently onto it.
is there any way to do it.

I've tried the guide here but just could not get the subtitles onto the mpeg file.

Note: it is a mpeg1 file not SVCD.
