I'm trying to convert DVD to VCD using smart ripper, DVD2AVI and TMPGenc. I managed fine using the guides here, but the audio is too low.
I know smartripper is not the problem, because if I play the vts_01_1 file in ATI player, the sound is fine.
The problem seems to be DVD2AVI. The WAV file it creates is quieter than the original DVD.
I have normalization 'on' and set to 100%.
Anyone had this problem, or know why it's happening?

    Thanks

After much playing about, I've managed to make it a bit better.
I turned on 48 > 44.1Khz, and set it to low.
The sound is now almost as good as the original.
Has anyone else done this, or know if there is still something I'm missing?

    Thanks.

If you want an all in one instead of using three separate programs, try Eazyvcd. A couple of clicks and you're done !
    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. normalization set to 100% ... this means you are not changing the volume of the audio at all! less than 100% is lower.. more than 100% is higher
Tmpgenc wizard... expert settings...audio tab..... audio edit...
tick change volume then 200% .. works for me every time.... even the neighbours enjoy my films now..

Thanks, I just discovered that feature in TMPGenc myself
200% sounds kinda high....I did it at 120% and I'm pretty happy with the results.
But, If I might ask, what DVD2AVI audio settings do you use?
as in dynamic range control, dolby downmix etc etc...

    Thanks again
