Excuse my ignorance...but is there ANY possible way to capture macrovision-protected VHS tapes onto my hard drive with my A280 card?? I simply would like to archive a couple of movies onto DVD. Thanks!

Oh, I wanted to ask something else too. I can only seem to capture PAL VHS with my A280 card! NTSC source footage comes out b/w!! Surely this should not be????

  3. Roll back your wdm driver to v1.08 and that will take care of the macrovision protection.
Works like a charm and I have the same card as you.

Thanks. Yep I rolled back the driver to 1.08 and everything's copacetic! Cool! Also figured out the ntsc thing...my fault...I had to change one of the crossbar settings from pal to ntsc!

Are you guys saying that Nvidia WDM drivers will work with Leadtek (Winfast) cards?

OK, now I'm getting the "blue screen of death" which I believe is related to my installing the old 1.08 driver.

It seems to occur when I'm in Ulead Video Studio:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    STOP: 0 x 000000D1 (0 x F2634800, 0 x 00000002, 0 x 0000001, 0 x F8234000)

    nv4_mini.sys - Address F8234000 base at F8224000, DateStamp 3f820145

...OK, I know that "nv4_mini.sys" is my nvidia driver.

Can anyone please suggest how I can fix this up? Thanks!
