If I had any idea what you are saying I could try and help but your post is too confusing. Try explaining from the very beginning what you are trying to do. What are your source files? What programs are you using? Explain your method and settings step by step. Only then can someone try and help.

  6. You're post is still not that clear I'm afraid.

The steps you're talking about are in the Project Wizard in TMPGEnc, I presume.

So is the source file a 700mb MPEG?

How do you mean is not going any smaller? How are you trying to make it smaller?

We can all read numbers - but not minds

Also, what template are you using to re-encode your file ?
    Reduce the bit rate.

  8. If you are trying to make a DVD, and you are in fact using the dvd template (meaning that you selected DVD NTSC or DVD PAL), then assumes that you are trying to put the file on a DVD disc, which has a capacity of 4.7gigs. So, this is why the file is so large (i think), because the bitrate is in the range that dvds use, which takes up much more space.

change the settings to VCD NTSC or VCD PAL, and you will get more compressed file, with lower picture quality, to fit on CD-R/RW though if your source file is 700 megs, i'm assuming it is longer than 80minutes? You will likely need to split it across two discs...

  9. im using pal and nstc templetes. even though the file size starts of as say...2.5 gigs u can make them more nearer the 700 megs.
