  1. I have one VHS video I'd like to convert to VCD. I have a video card with a TV out port on it, plugged up my VCR to it. I figure I could do video then do sound, then put them together in an MPEG, then convert to VCD.

I downloaded Virtual VCR but it won't detect anything. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

What TV card do you own?

  3. I dont have a TV tuner card. Do I really need one? If so why do video cards have TV/out ports? I know I could hook it up to my TV for a monitor and to watch stuff on, but even so it'd be audio or video only.
I plan on getting a TV tuner card eventually, any suggestions?

You need a card that can capture video. If you video card has TV out, and has no way to put video into your computer, you cannot convert VHS to MPEG with your TV card.

You should look at the guides, try to decide what you might need. A simple TV card with video in and video out will do what you need, provided you learn how to use the bundled software.
    Hello.

  5. Thank you for clearing that up to me, I guess that does make sense. I had planned on buying a TV tuner card, but am trying to save up for a vehicle. Guess I could splurge just once. Thanks again
