i have tried this job in several xp systems and had no trouble yet if i put it in my main system it just wont work.

I have tried it set as master and slave and as the only drive, i have tried every kind of media for it, yet every time i get the same thing.
It reads fine, it writes cdrs fine but it freezes the hole system as soon as i try to burn a dvd. and it dont matter if its a movie or a small photo file.

I have tried every kind of software (all of wich worked on the other systems)

i asume this has to be some kinda conflict either with other hardware or software but rather then do a re-install was hopeing someone could advice.

ahh another thought could it be something ina service pak i dont have any instaled , but i did get the .net update and the aspi drivers.

please help to save me haveing to rip the system apart to find the problem..

It could be the ASPI drivers. If your using Windows XP/2000/2003/NT try using a burning software that uses SPTI like DVDdecryptor (be sure to set it for SPTI in the settings).
