I copied my old 8mm tapes to vcr tape years ago and now want to get them on DVDs. One vcr tape has several hours of 8mm on it, with each 8mm being 3 to 10 minutes in length. I am using VituralDub to convert the tape to an AVI file(large).
My question is what is the best program to use to split the Large AVI into smaller AVI's (orginal 8mm size) to then convert in TMPGEnc to then use in DVDLab as individual movies.
TIA

You can split avi files with virtualdub. Use the mark-in and mark-out keys to mark a section and then save as avi.
Another alternative is using the select range function in tmpgenc. Then you can encode parts of the source file.
But you might concider encoding to dvd without splitting each scene. Instead use the chapter points in DVD-lab to separate your scenes on the same video.Ronny
