  1. I have a bunch of DivX3 files that I would like to "upgrade" to DivX 4 or 5, but don't know where to start. Can someone help me in the right direction with the "easiest" way? Freeware would be helpful. My LiteOn freezes on 3, so I want to convert them if possible.

    Any downsides? Thanks in advance.

  3. Use virtualdub or nandub to re-encode the movies with the divx 4 or 5 codec.

  7. Just a thought ...

Before going to all of the effort (and possible quality loss) with a re-encode, try using AVI FourCC Changer to change the Codec associated with playback of the DivX AVI file from DivX3 to Divx4 or 5.

It may solve the problem. Give it a shot.
