Hey all, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this.

I am having audio sync problems with my FINISHED encoded video. I am capturing with an ATI TV Wonder Pro (the new one) using MMC 8.1, and the huffy codec. When the capture is completed, I can play the captured AVI file just fine...no audio problems at all, absolutely perfect sync. But after trying to encode the file to mpeg2 for dvd, the audio sync is lost. I am definately capturing in 48 khz, I have tried burning the DVD using pcm, mp2, and ac3 with no difference. No dropped frames while capturing.

TMPG - starts doing 'something' whenever you try to revserse scrub, which will usually take about 10 mins of waiting to recover from it. Will take about 20 mins to run the determining field order scan at the start of the wizard, and results in an out of sync mpeg at the end. The video is perfect.

Cinema Craft encoder - Out of frustration I tried something else. this one will get to 98% completed and the software stops responding. (using single pass...always gets stuck at the end of the file on the first pass and won't go any farther)

Anybody know what the problem is? I have been pulling my hair out trying to find what it is. Could the codec be corrupted? Every file I've tried is doing this, and frustration is setting in.

This is a brand new install of windows XP Pro, so there shouldn't be any remnants of anything in there to cause this.

Any insight on the problem would be appreciated.

I don't see where you extracted the audio and encoded it with the video in TMPGEnc.

I have taken the original capture file and I am letting TMPEG / CCE do the splitting of the files by having it output to two seperate files. The resulting two files are not in sync anymore.

Well, you can keep "ripping your hair out", but when you've reached your last strand, try this guide.

Well, it looks like it didn't work. I recaptured the video, reinstalled the codec, and I'm still getting the exact same problem. Video plays fine uncompressed, compress to mpeg2...loss of audio sync. I pulled the audio out of the file and did nothing to it. Compressed the video...put them back together...no worky....are there any other alternative codecs to huffy (besides pic video that you have to pay for) that work properly?

I used to use the Asus ASV1 codec with my asus card...is there any way to make the ATI cards use that codec?...it works.

Well, you can try the DivX codecs.
