Someone recommended me to try KazaaLite because of spyware on regular Kazaa but I always get an error when trying to access this site. Any clues on what is going on?

Kazaa sucks anyway, lite or not.
Everything is fake. Porn, movies, songs, anything.

I scratched my Motley Crue CD recently, and killed a song on it. Tried to download a new version of it, and all 15 or so I grabbed were garbage.

"Take A Walk On The Wildside" has this horrible sound on it now for like 3 seconds.

I'll just go buy a used CD sometime, no big deal. But Kazaa lost my vote.

For all I've heard about Kazza, I wasn't impressed. I went looking for an independent band that use to be on mp3.com and found nothing. But using acquisition on the mac I was able to find plenty of songs by them.

  15. I like Kazaa Lite for finding things like short comedy sketches from shows like SNL and MAD TV. Also for hearing some samples of bands that a mate has suggested.

K-Lite isn't dead. Read this page for more info on how to update your client:
    http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=16805

    Download K-Lite here: http://kppfree.narod.ru/kdown.htm
It's being hosted on a Russian domain, so doubtful it'll get shut down. Take a look.

I think KaZaA had it's day, and I haven't even used it at all for a while. I went to eMule several months ago because of the verified files and selection of things to d/l is so much better than KaZaA. It's a little more to it to set up eMule, but once it's set up, it runs without intervention. I've been using the newest version of eMulePlus (v1i) from www.emuleplus.tk and it's the most stable one yet. Hasn't crashed my PC once, and it's been running for many days at a time without problems. You can look at what's available on eMule by going to:
    www.sharereactor.com
    www.shareprovider.com
    www.ed2k-it.com
or do a search on www.filedonkey.com (which just indexes files found on other sites). There are dozens of eMule indexing sites that you can find what you're looking for. KaZaA doesn't have such sites, so it's a crapshoot as to what you find on there. With the eMule, you find the file and it downloads from whatever sources are out there. It automatically updates the fake search when you start the client (in v1i, this was just added). It automatically blocks out leechers and "unfair" clients, so the people that don't share, don't get anything. That keeps the whole system more honest. All files are hashed before being put on the network, so it's harder to get fakes and viruses. I haven't found one yet in months of downloading off there. On KaZaA, at least 25% of the files I downloaded had viruses.
So far, I've found far more on eMule than I ever found on KaZaA, and I've completed 10's of Gigs of files that I never would have gotten completed off KaZaA. IMHO, it's one of the best p2p apps out there, there's no spyware or junk installed, no ads, it's totally free. I haven't used DC or Bittorrent, but I've heard they are also very good - at this point I think almost anything is better than KaZaA.

LOL that is the only place I was able to get it from. I remembered watching Screen Savers and Dark Tipper said he posted a link on his site. After I wasn't able to find a working kazaa lite for some time, techtv.com was the only place working. Keep in mind I read somewhere that Kazaa and RiAA are shutting down all kazaa sites, so I would store the file from techtv on the pc just in case.

After reading this post I downloaded E_MULE and tried a download, this was the result.

Vet File Monitor has found that C:\Program Files\eMule\Temp\001.part is Win32.Bacterra.A worm.

you're probably sitting in line behind a thousand other people who are wanting the same files..... the edonkey network is set up to 'queue' file sharing computers according to factors like network ID rank, the server that you are connecting through, and the number of files that you are sharing (not 'junk' files, but actual files that are being sought on the donkey - you can't just load up your shared directory with a bunch of text documents and expect to get a higher ID).

Also, check your settings for max upload and download speeds. If you are on a high speed connection (cable modem or DSL) then you should let the maximum settings on your u/l and d/l speeds.

Firewall - if you are behind a firewall of any sort, you will need to open up a couple of ports to let the client talk to the donkey network.

it can be any of these factors that are causing you to not get any d/l's.

I select what files I am looking for and let the pc on overnight, sometimes a day or two, and eventually the file completes itself. You shouldn't expect instant d/l's off of edonkey, they take some time.

BTW, emule is a third party client to the edonkey network. (similar to what kazaalite is to kazaa) The real thing can be gotten at www.edonkey2000.com

i was definately connected, and i am not sure what my id status is high or low? i may try adding some better files to my shared folders and see what happens. i use adsl so my download speeds should be fairly good. i didnt realise that you have to wait so long to start downloading files....i thought it would be similar to kazaa where more often than not the files you find in your search are downloadable pretty much there and then.
is edonkey any better than emule? maybe i am expecting too much?

I also use emule plus. I have high id because I open up all the ports to it but having high or low id doesn't mean anything. If you have low id it just means that emule considers you to be behind a firewall and it will not let you dl from other ppl with low ids. There are thousands of sources so even if you loose low id sources there more then enough high ids.

You can't tell which one is better wheter its edonkey, emule 30.., overnet or emule plus. I noticed that each one works differently on each pc so you just will have to try them out. I use emule plus and for me it's better then the other 3.

Take a look at this FAQ and it might answer some of your questions.

    http://emuleplus.sourceforge.net/wacko/wakka.php?wakka=FAQ

You can PM me and I'll try to get you up and running on eMule if you need help. It's not that hard to set up and the defaults should get you going, then tweak from there.
