  2. You can crop your video when encoding to vcd. Instructions will depend on the program you use.

  4. those programs are for burning......reencode your vcd using tmpg and in the settings tab-->advanced...there is a setting to crop the picture which is called "clip frame"....

  5. use TMPGEnc, it has a full screen option that crops off the sides when encoding

  6. You might want to do a little research and learn *what* "those little black bands" are.

Personally, I like widescreen, but I do not want to start a WS/PS debate...

Do research, and decide for yourself...

As what loudanddeep said widescreen does have its purpose and most people actually prefer the format since it preserves the original vision of the director.

But this is more than just a Widescreen vs fullscreen debate because if you simply crop the top and sides the picture will fill the screen but it will be far from a proper pan and scan movie. When you crop the sides you lose parts of the picture. When this is done professionally they scroll through every frame and pan side to side to get all the important parts and zoom in and out to get it all to fit. If you just crop without doing the proper panning and scanning than you will lose important parts of the picture.

It really ruins the movie when characters are talking and they're not even on the screen.

You can do a pan and scan yourself but its very time consuming and would definitley be more trouble than its worth, even if you do prefer PS over WS.

  8. I too would like to watch full screen movies. I tried "clip frame" and some other things such as "full screen keep aspect ratio 2" which sounds like it should do it. But neither worked at least when viewed in Media Player. Do you have to wait until after its burned to see it in full screen?

  9. - Use DVD2AVI
    - At menu bar , select VIDEO , Option Clip & Resize
    - Go to a bright frame of the movie and adjust your cropping
