  1. Hi!

I would like to make a video CD (not a real VCD) just to be played on a Windows PC system, so I w'ont have to convert any of my video file (Avi, MOV, MPG, etc.)... it's more simple for me. Is there any program for building a DVD menu-like or an simple interface ? I've heard about "Quick menu builder" but it is not very easy...

Is there a way to put many video file on a CD, with a video player and all codec, so that the movies can lauch immediatly on any PC ??? (I don't need it to play on a standalone DVD-VCD player, just for PC)

May be I am asking too much ?

    Thank you for any advice...

    I would say so

There may be one click type software available to do this for you, but I'm not aware of it.

The menu system could be made in (d)html, and made to autorun, or you could use Flash etc..

Including a player, and all codecs required - and especially making the disc check to see what codecs are already present on the system, and installing the ones that are not yet there... not a simple task.

I'd say this sounds like much more work than doing the appropriate conversion(s), and making a (S)VCD etc... or at least converting all the files to a common format (e.g. MPEG-1) which would make the process more simple.

There may be software out there to do all this for you - as I say - but I'm not aware of it.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

eMovix (just tried it the other day) is a pretty cool package, that together with a Windows GUI can create 100% self contained CDs with player and audio/video content. Target platform can be anything as long as it's a PC - it doesn't even have to have an OS installed, as the eMovix CD comes with a small footprint Linux installation "on board". Extremely cool stuff.
