  1. okay, i'm confused about the different companies and media codes and stuff. i read the stickie post, that informed me on some things, but it confused me even more. i would really appreciate if you guys could clear a couple things up for me.

i just bought a sony dru 510 (which is working greatly so far, btw). i'm really looking for the best quality dvd +r's regardless of how much they cost. but what confuses me is that there are the same type of media from the same company and there are different media codes. if i'm buying from a store or online, how do i know if i'm getting the "bad" media code or "good" one? or is it just hit or miss? and now i see some things about fake ones, what's that about?

right now, i'm looking at getting the fujifilm ones. from what i see on the site, they got good reviews and i don't think there's another one that are made from the "bad" companies. thank you guys in advance for any help you can give me.

I'm sure you've heard this name before....but I look for Ritek brand first a foremost. I have a Philips DVD Recorder (uses +R/RW) and I have an LG 4040B burner for my computer. RITEK has always been reliable for me. Now the bad part....Ritek are not sold as Ritek in stores. I believe they are called Ridata to the retail market. Your best bet is to buy bulk Ritek's online from a reputable dealer.
I've also had great luck with BenQ, Verbatim and Philips DVD+R's and Primeon -R's....but doubt you will find them(Primeon) for sale in stores in the states. The Primeon discs I bought also turned out to be Ritek G04's.....What A Bonus...
    Good Luck To Ya'
P.S. I wouldn't buy anything that had Memorex on it.

Ritek (assuming they are Grade A or B) won't fail you. Certain brands of Fuji or TDK are also excellant. Everything else is up to luck :P

  5. I have the same burner. If I were you, I'd use DVD-R disks. Though more expensive, they play in more DVD players. The disks I use are Memorex 4X DVD-R. They work great!!!
