  1. Ok, well, i have a Leadtek Winfast TV 2000 XP Deluxe capture card. When i import VCR tapes through S-Video and then try to put them on DVD, the audio loses sync while being converted to DVD. I was informed on this forums that its because my capture card is dropping frames causing the audio to loose sync. Here is the exact quote:

"Your problem is that your video card is dropping video frames, while the audio frames are not being dropped. Padding will keep the file in sync, but once you try to author it, the padding is lost. A poor source tape is at fault, but even the best VHS tapes are not great to start with, and will likely drop a few frames.

Repairing the sync does not ever work well, so your best choices are.

1: Record using VirtualDUB, and use it's "adjust video dynamically to match audio clock" feature under the timing menu."

Ok, well i have a few questions about virtual dub.
    1. Under video format the default resolution is 320X240 and the pixel depth is RGB 24. If i try to change the resolution to anything higher than that then it says "Error 418: Unsupported Video Format." So how can i record at a higher resolution? Do i need to change the Pixel Depth or something?

    2. When i go to capture, do i choose "Capture Video" or "Capture Video (compatability Mode)"?

    Thanks guys

    1. The only pixel depth I have is UYVY which defaults to 691200bytes. I think you may need another codec installed. If you do not have it installed already, download the HUFFYuv 2.1.1 and install it. That may get a higher resolution available.
Under Video > Compression see what is installed. You will see the codecs installed on your system there.
    2. I have no idea which of the Capture options to use. I use just plain Capture Video to start the capture.

I have an audio lag after using the "adjust video dynamically to match audio clock" feature under the timing menu." . I end up with a VT timing of +167 after capturing 71 minutes to AVI. The source tape is 13 years old.

Good luck working out the problem.

I have a prominent sound at the beginning of the tape I have captured. Using TMPGenc > Settings > Advanced > Source Range(FIlter) w/Display Audio checked.
Previewing the capture/audio until the Sound display matches the event on the Video display. This method was close to the VT Adjust setting Virtual Dub offered.
