I used ffmpegX 0.0.9 to convert a DivX file to SVCD using the quick presets.

    VIDEO: DIVX, size: 576x432, 23.976 fps, 994 kbps. AUDIO: mp3, 44100Hz, 128 kbps.

I "fixed" the AVI with ffmpegX first before converting. The conversion completed without errors.

However, when I played the SVCD in Quicktime or on my DVD player, the image frequently gets blocky in places and the image will smear along the edges of movement. For instance, if a character moves their hand, the edge of his hand will leave a trail of streaks.

I've converted similar DivX's to VCD or CVD without problems, but this is the first time I've "fixed" the AVI with ffmpegX and it's the first time I've tried converting a DivX avi to SVCD.

Also, which DivX codec works best with ffmpegX when converting a DivX to another format? Should I use DivX 5, 3ivx 4.5, or the FFusion.compenent?

So no one has any suggestions? C'mon, someone must've experienced this problem before?

    Anyone?

    Major?

Do you get this only with that AVI or every time? Try to use DivX Doctor II on the AVI and encoding the resulting MOV.

You should install the latest DivX component AND the latest 3ivx component (applicable if you use the "Decode with Quicktime" option).

    Major,

Thanks. Using DivxDoctor seemed to do the trick, although I've never needed to use it before. I have several AVIs from the same source, but only one was giving me the streaks and blockiness. The others converted perfectly to VCD or SVCD.
