ok i am trying to work this problem out if you have the normal shitty media and you burn it to its maximum you will get read errors but if you change the file size down to <3680Mb you don't have any probs at all when you go to play it no read errors the bastard works great .
has anybody else been playing around with file sizes on cheap media or if someone else could have a play it would be good
I've tried this with both a pioneer 106 d and a lite-on ldw411s on different computers and it has the same result

  2. I think we've all probably noticed something similar before now - I have a few discs knocking about that I only use for data or very short promotional material because they're flaky at the end.

There isn't likely to be any hard and fast figures because it will depend on the media and the target device as to how well bad media works near the edge (so I don't know what you're hoping to achieve), but I think I can safely say you're not alone in noticing this.

It was news to me. I can now hold off buying some good quality DVD-Rs until I exhaust my supply of "bargain basement" ones. Talk about "teaching an old dog new tricks". Woof!
