  1. I've been looking into buying a 17" LCD.
I play lots of games from FPS - RPGs and browes the web alot.
I know that CRTs are better for game but I had 4 diffrent monitor in the last 2 week and all seem to have some wierd problem with them. So I said what the heck go for LCD.

So my question to you guys is which should I go for or which do you think is better. The specs are pretty much the same for both lcd's but I have not seen the NEC in action but have seen the Veiwsonic and it looks sexy I play games in 1280*1024 as well as 1024*768.

    Any suggestions.

  3. Ive got the 18inch version of the NEC, and can vouch for it, excellent quality monitor, no problems. I also know viewsonics are quality monitors (although have never owned one or know about that particular model). ANother model to consider is the Hyundai ImageQuest Q17 17" TFT Monitor its got rave reviews at THG (link below), and Hyundai has recently started guaranteeing its monitors for less than three dead pixels.

  6. I just bought a Sharp LL-T17A3. It's a 17" LCD with a 20ms response time. It should arrive on Thursday.

Reading reviews, it is frequently compared to the Viewsonic. It always comes out second best..... The Viewsonic leading the market.

This seems a good time to ask: what's the frequency of dead pixels occuring? I have seen a couple of people reviewing the Sharp saying it has a dead pixel - could this be poor design by Sharp or just a couple of unlucky reviewers?

Knowing my luck, I'll get two.

Going on what I've heard, the Viewsonic is a rock solid choice. If you can, though, see the NEC working and make your own mind up - it's the only way to be sure!
