  1. I encoded an .mpg with TMPGenc coming from an XviD .avi and the audio track (a .wav) that i ripped using VirtualDub. I used TMPGenc's DVD authoring software and burning software to make the DVD.

The audio starts out of sync from the very beginning of the movie.

What is a newbie to do?

The newbie should first decide what kind of synch problem is plaguing him, by how much. If, for example, he hears, "Bond, James Bond." and then see Sean Connery move his lips x seconds later, he has audio leading video. He should load the the video into Gold Wave. Add x seconds of silence and save the audio as a wave file.

If he sees Sean Connery move his lips hears "Bond, James Bond." x seconds later, he has video leading audio. He should load the video into Gold Wave and cut x seconds from the beginning of the audio and save it as a wave file.

Either way, he should then use the TMPGEnc main screen, load the original video as input video, and the new wave file as input audio, and press Start. The resultant file should be a video with good audio synch.

That is what a newbie should do.

  3. Goldwave, excellent.

Is there anyway to get an exact difference between the audio and video? Or do i have to pull out the stopwatch
