Unable to frameserve to TMPGenc from VirtualDub

I was re-encoding some Divx 4.01 files to mpg1 to make vcds - framserving from Virtualdub to tmpgenc - no problems. Closed Tmpgenc, changed my mind and decide to continue and do a couple more, reopened Tmpgenc, and now it will not recongize the frameserve file. I get the unsupported file error. I didn't change anything before getting the error. I can open the Divx file in Tmpgenc directly, but I need to do some editing first before sending it. I have tried everything listed in the How To, I have re-installed the codecs and the handler for Virtualdub, rebooted after each. No luck. Any ideas ????

additional information: Virtualdub is v1.4.7, tmpgenc are versions 2 and 12i. I even tried on one of the files I had already done - no go. I have tried changing the priority on the vfapi tab for directshow and vfw - pretty much at every possible position, no luck.

I diabled the Directshow in TMPGEnc and got no probs, if that doesn't work try AVISynth to frameserve

Thnaks for the help. I ended up having to change the fileserver name to somehting short with no spaces and it works fine again...
