The movie clips you're getting from dvd shrink are Mpeg-2 and are not easily editable. If by clips, you mean a bunch of short clips, then you're better off converting them to AVI. Then you can import them into your video editor to insert transitions and eventually converting back to Mpeg-2. Note that you will loose quality.

If you have very large clips, then you can always encode your own intermitten clip that you can run between your movie clips.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

  3. - Import all the VOB files or MPEG-2's you have, in DVD2AVI.
    - Save the project.
    - Process the ".D2V" file to AVI with "VFAPI"
    - Open the AVI in whatever your video editor is and cut and paste whatever you need.
    - Save in DV format 720x480
    - You wont lose quality by doing this.

Don't use slow motions or you'll **** up the interlaced images, just cut, paste and make your transitions.

If VOB files are 24fps natural, save the project in "Forced FILM mode" and encode your final project with "3:2 pulldown" enable.

You need to pay attention to that, cause if what you're trying to edit are movie cuts, then your shots are in 24fps.

    Hope it helps.

I use Ulead video studio.. for transitions.. never have problem.. what i did just created still images on those .. and transition between those still images.... this way i did not have to convert to avi file... and lose qualites.. worked for me..but there is limiations of transitions..it is not the best way.. and if i do image that last only fractions of second.. it hardly could be seen..but it is not professional.. as i said i am newbie.. and still learning...

i have just realise i did not explained properly what i meant by images

when scene is finish you can create still image from last clip.. then create image .. from first clip in second movie .. and insert transition between those two... and so on.. last image of second video and first from third and so on... ALWAYs work perfectly for me.. some transition specially 3d do not .. so do not worry chose then different or increase length of image being display... I used Ulead only for this purpose .. mostly work with adobe.. but Ulead.. is ok.. with those transitions that is why i use it..if you need manual for ulead ..so you could understand what you could do.. i can send to you.... I was not able to do transtions between videos.. .. too.. only some come out some not.. .. but i still use Ulead as it alows me not too lose quality of film.... if you need more info.. .. email me at ula@mail2ok.com

    good luck
