  1. Hello all,

I realize this might... be posted somewhere but I haven't found it yet.
And before this goes on a tangent, I know many don't like dvd x copy but I haven't had too many problems with it.
Anyhow, my question is this, in order to improve the compression ratio, I have been experimenting with removing some of the "tracks" on various dvds. How do you know what to remove and what to keep?
For example there could be spanish, french enabled stuff that I really don't need. how do I know how to remove that stuff so that would mean less info and theoretically a better compression ratio and hence a better quality picture?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Which version of Xcopy are you using?
DVDXcopy Xpress, DVDXcopy Platinum or DVDXcopy

Xcopy is a good program and I used it for a while but then I saw the DVDSHRINK will do exactly what your talking about

But to answer your question: Yes if you have platinum, I think you can do it too in DVDXcopy. Just select the biggest file. It's usually "TitleSet 1 or TitleSet 2". But you'll really need a better program with more options/control like..... DVDShrink to strip the foreign audio from the movie (It's Free)

  3. Thanks for the reply...

I am currently using DVD X Copy platinum 3.2.1.
So essentially, just grab the biggest file and leave the rest?
Not to open a can of worms, but how do the other software note which "titles" to strip etc.
Anyhow, I really just wanted to know how to do so in DVD X Copy. Again, I realize many do not like it, but it does the job for me. Just trying to maximize the picture quality.

    Thanks again all.

  4. I just tried this with Seabiscuit. The problem i found was that both tile tracks 1 and 2 were the same leangth ....so i just selected track 1.....but now i have no surround audio from my rear speakers...any help?? I too am using DVDXcopy plat. i would use DVDShrink...as i love that prog too......but with that prog i can only seem to compress the menu and Extra's ...What i would porefer is to remove the extra's and unused audio...and mbe left with a Movie only w/Digital 5.1 channel audio
