Gateway Connected DVD Player specs.

I am new to the forum so I am not up to speed on all the specs and lingo. What I have a question about is the Gateway Connected Dvd player, specifically regarding it 's performance when streaming video from a networked media server PC.

I am thinking of purchasing one of these so I took a look on the website and found a PDF manual for the player. It says that the mpeg2 bitrate for files on the media server can be no greater that 3 MB/Sec.

3 MB/Sec, that is kinda low right? If this would result in noticably lower quality video then I think I'll pass on buying. Does anyone have any experience with this aspect of this DVD player?

I have this unit and it works great. It plays all the VCD, SVCD and Divx v4 media I can throw at it. It won't play a DVD thru the wireless connection, but I knew that before I bought it. The only downfall is the D5 media server software you have to install on your PC. It isn't very flexible as it doesn't allow you to catagorize your media yourself. If you tell it to look at music, it will do it's best to catagorize based on the ID3 tag and that is it. Once it is done, you are done, like it or not. I am sure this will improve over time. All in all I like the unit and recommend it to all my friends. I store my media on my PC and access it whenever I want. No more CDs to watch something. It is very nice.
