I have seen possibly no recommendations to use DVD Shrink to rip. It is usually use Decryptor, then Shrink, then a burning program. I used Shrink to rip a back-up of Baby Einstein and Nero to burn it. It removed Macrovision. The content was such that is didn't require shrinking. Burned to Liquid Video 2X DVD-R that I got on sale at Circuit City. It played in all of our DVD Players. That was my first attempt at backing up a DVD, albeit a simple one.
What is the disadvantage of using Shrink to rip?

LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!
People use DVDDecryptor to rip for several reasons. DVDShrink bombs when it hits a scratch, whereas DVDDecryptor can ignore the error and skip the bad spot.
People use DVDDecryptor when they want to stash a DVD9 on their hardrive. They then use DVDShrink to compress it down to a DVD5. Why don't they do that in the first place? Well, why would they be in such a hurry to rip a DVD? It's a simple answer.
The other reason is the older version of Shrink didn't do ripping. So, most people got 3.0.5B, but are using the 2.3 older guides.
Heck, I use Shrink for backup up DVD5's because it's as quick as using DVDDecryptor. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
