Hello everyone! I am new here and have some ?'s I am hoping someone can help with. My equipment is as follows:
Akai plasma tv
Comcast digital Cable box HDTV Motorola 5100
Panasonic DMR-E80H
Fisher DVD/Surround Sound System

I have everything hooked up and working (well I have no sound coming off component 1 right now but i think i need to split the audio on the comcast box to do this...least of my concerns right now) but am not sure if this is the correct setup so wanted to check it with some of you

Wall-Coax to Motorola 5100(cablebox digital/hdtv)
Motorola-Coax to E80 (do I need this connected?)
Motorola- SVideo to E80
Motorola- to TVs component 1 jacks using the component video outjacks on the Motorola(blue red green monster cables)This is so I am able to view true HDTV channels as the E80 cannot handle them..
E80 to TV- (yellow/red/white tri cable from component video out on E80 back to TV's component 2 jacks (since these are not real component cables should they be plugged in somewhere else on the E80? or into the video/s/s jacks on the TV instead of component 2?
Motorola- to Surround Sound system using audio cables only (as of now)
I think that is how it is all setup....now a few questions
**Currently when I switch to Component 2 on the tv (which is the dvdr) I am able to watch tv on this component all 300some stations and use my comcast digital remote..however it is all coming through channel 4 on the E80 instead of input1/2/3 is this the way it should be working? It also appears that if i change the channel on component 2(e80) the channel also changes on component 1(hdtv)meaning that currently it seems like i have to watch what i am recording off tv..is this correct??
**Do I need the coax cable plugged into the E80 or is the Svideo connection sufficient?
I have not even attempted to record anything yet as I wanted to make sure all my cables/connections were the best they could be before diving in...opinions??? Suggestions????
thanks in advance everyone
