    Hi Major and other readers,
I ripped a dvd into one large VOB file - containing the mpeg2 video, the ac3 audio and one set of subtitles.
I then used the svcd preset to encode the video, while deliberately skipping the subs and setting the audio to 'through only'.
However, after the 'finished' message, it turned out that only HALF the video had been encoded (and looked perfect enough). The total movie had the right length though, because the audio had been handled correctly and fully. It's just that the second half of the video was all black, and the total file size was roughly one half of my estimate.

    Any idea what went wrong?
    Thanks ahead!

  2. Was it bigger then 4gb and did you decode with quicktime? If the answer to these is both yes, then split the vob in half and do it in two conversions. othewise decode with mencoder.

Quicktime drops its bundle at 4 gb...

Yup, it was over 6 gig in size,
    so I assume you're right.

    Thanks for replying!
I'm going to try n use mencoder now. Do you know if there will be a difference in quality compared to Quicktime? (and if so: plus or minus?)

    Greetings,
    Johan
