DVD PAL to DVD NTSC How do I convert this?

I know one of my DVD players won't play PAL Dvd's so what I would like to do is to convert these somehow. Does anyone have an easy method.
Here is what I am doing I want this old TV show Arwolf DVD's I can only seem to find them sold in England (region 2 PAL). I want to buy them and cenvert them. I would like to keep them on DVD not SVCD. The guy I am buying them from said they are a DVD9. So I would need to compress it with say instant copy or something to put it on my DVD5. Is there a software that will compress it and convertit at the same time? Any ideals would be great.

Does that do Pal to NTSC conversion? Can't see that feature described anywhere.
