TDK garbage? memorex garbage?

I bought 3 of the 25-packs of TDk 2x DVD-R TDKG02 from Best Buy this week.

Odd thing is about 1-2 discs per pack fail at the lead-in. The discs bring up no info in DVDINFO and are basically a coaster before the burner even gets it.

The $30+tax is still a good price for 23-pack in stores I guess. But I was sold 25, would be nice to have them.

Had one coaster from Memorex DVD+R 4x RICOHJPN too. Another burner, not sure what caused it.

Very odd these media are. Too pricey for duds.

Anybody else seeing this kind of thing? Duds right away, NOT burner-made or balance-related (normal reason for coasters, whereas end of disc won't play or the disc pauses and freezes in player).

I believe that i had the same TDK's and failed to bring up on dvdinfo, i forget how it was fixed. But they work great and i just picked up 50 from Bestbuy. So yeah TDK are good to buy, i doubt the Best but a good buy.

I've burned a whole lot of TDK 2x -Rs without issue in the past. No comment on the current TDKs as I havne't picked any up yet.

100 Disk TDK 4x +R spindle, all burned fine.
200 (25 Disk) Memorex Spindle 4x +R, all burned fine.
0 Coasters, 0 Bad Burns
2 different drives (Nec ND1100a and Aopen DRW4410)
All my Memorex were Amazon.com 25 for $29.99 disks. My TDK were Ebay.com auction. Just ordered 150 more Memorex (6-25 disk spindles for $171 delivered)

I've never had a problem with Best Buy customer service..but I wouldn't even waste my time dealing with them..I would of taken those duds and put them in with the remaining disks and just returned them and said I didn't want that brand or I got a better deal somewhere else.

I don't see anything wrong with that...as Best Buy will have to send them back to the vendor. I've never seen them sell media as an "OPEN BOX" item...so I doubt they resell it. This is kind of like the same thing with the Sony burners....when you open the box there was sticker inside that said if you have a defect with the burner DO NOT return it to the store you purchased it from, instead send it to Sony for repair.

So if you purchase a burner and got a defective..you'd have to send that defective burner to SONY in the hopes they could repair it and send you back a "REPAIRED" defective burner...in the meantime..you'd pay the shipping to SONY while having to wait for it to come back....that sounds fair right? LMAO....I actually did get a defective burner..had a defective laser....I took it back to Best Buy and got my money back the SAME HOUR...not the same day..but within' the SAME HOUR.

Out of 50 TDK 2x DVD-R TDKG02, 4 coasters, 19 unused, 27 flawless burns. The 4 are DOA. Cannot go past lead in.

Out of 25 Memerox DVD+R 4x RICOHJPN, 1 coaster, 4 flawless, 20 left.

The problem on the + discs seems to mostly be the burner. Insofar as you cannot switch to + and - at will. If I want to use all + media, then it's fine. Or is all - media, then fine. But to switch, I must first reboot. The TDK are just DOA.

Probably gonna run back to RITEK again. Sigh. So much for the local "sales" on "good" media. Not a sale after coasters factored into price.

havent had one coaster from all the memorex +R 4X ive used (about 100 disks)

Burning Memorex, I had not problems but the discs won't play in my Playstation or my parents DVD player. Plays on my computer and DVD player fine. So I have only had compatibility issues.
