NEC 1300A DVD writer

Just got the above dual fromat writer, but when I put a -R to write to I get the message, "writing to DVD not succesful. Write DVD LL5"
The frimware is 1.08 and +R/RW work fine.
Using 4.7gb -R disk which seems unbranded but has the initials P.A.G. on it

The NEC is picky about -R media, especially with the official firmware. You could try Herrie's hacked firmware, or just buy high quality disks when you want to use -R disks. Look for made in Japan on the side of the case if you are buying locally, or buy online and get Ritek.
