I downloaded a Divx file which has a screen size of 696x480 and framerate of 23.975 fps.
I'm trying to convert to SVCD using Tmpgenc's standard NTSC film template, but the Divx file has a strange distortion effect every 4th frame which I've never seen before. I believe it is called combing. Here's a screencap:
I read on another site that this is an interlace problem and could be solved using Tmpgenc's deinterlace settings. I've tried tests using every single choice available and they either don't work at all, or cause additional problems such as ghosting or even greater distortion.
Yet another site suggested not using any deinterlace method since this combing will only appear on my PC monitor, not on my TV screen when played on my standalone. Again, this was not the case.
So the question is, how do I fix it?
Tx,
Magwell
