Hello

I have an Audigy 2 ZS soundcard and a CDRW and a Pioneer DVR-106D. I have previously connected both drives (from their analog audio out ports) via an analog audio Y splitter to the CDIN audio on the soundcard, which works fine. However, I got to thinking that I could actually be getting digital audio from the DVR-106D to the SPDIF in on the sound card by using an SPDIF cable.

1) Is this possible, advisable? Would I still be able to also connect an analog audio cable from the CD burner to the CD audio in on the soundcard at the same time?

2) The sound card has an SPDIF input (at least I think it's an input), and the DVR-106D has a white (4 pin) connector on the back (besides the 4 pin CD analog audio connector). I'm not sure what this white connector is. Is this white connector the SPDIF output from the DVD? It's got 4 pins--not 2. The SPDIF cables I've seen are 2 pin on both ends. Are these two how I would hook-up via an SPDIF cable to get digital audio while watching a DVD on my computer? How do you connect to the DVD drive with the 4 pins? I don't see a 2-pin connector on the DVR-106D.

Any advise on what the white connector is on the DVD burner is and if I can use it as an SPDIF out would be appeciated.

Thanks
Randy
