Need help converting from AC3 sound format.

I'm trying to burn an SVCD after converting the movie file to MPEG from a VOB file. Both, the MPEG file and VOB file have audio in AC3 format. I've tried to burn with Nero and I get no sound, just the video, I also tried to do it with Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 but I get an error message telling me the AC3 format is not supported by their software, I finally tried Roxio and I pretty much get the same messaage I got with Ulead. Is there any way to convert the AC3 file into a different format?

SVCD does not support Ac3 audio, only mp2. To convert the audio to mp2 you can use BeSweet or Headac3he. For both the audio has to be de-multiplexed from the video and converted seperatley, the the new mp2 audio file re-multiplexed with the video. You can use TmpGenc mpeg tools to do this.

I have used HeadAC3He before to convert AC3 to WAV and it is very intuitive. You could convert to mp2 and then multiplex as explained by bugster using TMPGEnc.
