I just got my A06D. I have install it but XP does not recognize the drive and when i push the eject button nothings happen.
I know this happens to the Sony 510 and this was the reason i choose the Pioneer over the Sony.
Is my drive Dead ?

Yes double check the power cable!
Technically that's the only thing needed for your tray to open and I am pretty sure you got no power or a dead drive.
If you have any spliters in that line, like fan, lights, Y adapter etc.. remove them and try a direct connect. I have had trouble with connectors in the past. Loose wire/pin and sometime it worked sometimes not. Also try plugging a fan into that connector instead of your drive, it will either work or not work, if it works wiggle and bend the wire around slightly and see if it goes off! I had alot of trouble with a powersuplie once that had one bad connector on the cable. It worked most the time, then not other times. Was a real pain to find since I had Y adapters and fans with pass through on the same wires. It always seemed to be the one thing I removed was the problem because wiggling the wires caused it to work, then a few days it would loose connection again and I had to start over.
I open my CD trays all the time with just a power connection, so that rules out jumpers and IDE settings or anything else really. -
I agree that it is most likely the power but it doesn't hurt to take three seconds to check the others ! I think it is better to make sure the whole setup is working instead of fixing the power problem only to find that windoze doesn't recognise the drive because you have two masters !
I agree with the method suggested by overloaded_ide. With the cover off the box, try just connecting the power cable and start up your machine. If you cannot eject and close the tray then theres something dodgy with it. Try connecting your drive to another power cable or connect another drive (ie CDROM, CDRW) to the same cable. This should eliminate certain elements of your config. If in doubt, Google it. -
Thank you for your reply and suggestions.
The bios and Windows recognise the drive.
i have tried the method suggested by overloaded_ide but still does not work. When i press the eject button the 'busy light' lightup a few seconds but nothing happens.
I also try to install it on another computer but does not work.
So i can consider my new drive dead. -

The drive shows up in Device Manager.
I was able to open it manually with a paper clip.
I have succesfully flash the drive from 1.06 to 1.07 but that does not change anything.
I also try this : turn off the computer, open manually the drive, put the software cd in, close the tray, turn on the computer. I open windows explorer, double clic on the drive but it says that there is nothing in the drive.
Anyway i will take it back as soon as possible.
