  1. Hi Folks,

I've been hanging out around here for some time, but this is my first question on DVDRHelp.com.

A friend has installed a CD burner on his PC and also the latest version of Nero 6. OK the installation went OK and he could read CD's but when he came to burn it refused to do so. Fortunately Nero generates a log so I was able to look through it to find out why there was a problem. It turns out that DMA is OFF.

Now in the past on Win2K I've just gone to Control Panel> System > Hardware > Device Manager. Double clicked on the IDE Channel gone to Properties > Advanced Settings and then selected "DMA if available".

Now the crunch. Under Win2K SP4 that no longer applies and I can't find anywhere where you can enable the DMA on disc drives.

Anybody have any ideas on this, I'd be extremely grateful for any guidance! Pretty please!
