    Hi everyone,

I have an .ogm file that I would like to turn into a quicktime formatted movie. My file does play with mplayer. I have read that if mplayer will play the file, you can encode it to this format with mencoder, but I don't know what to type into terminal to get the encode to work. Could someone please tell me the necessary input into mencoder is to make this conversion?

    Thanks,
    wolfwood87

  2. mencoder does not encode to Quicktime - only to avi.

    Hi,

Thank you major for the reply. If you can only convert it into avi, then could you please tell me the code I need to enter to convert it to avi? Thanks so much.

  5. If you use ffmpegX then you don't need to enter any code. If you specifically want to use mencoder in command line mode, check mencoder documentation at http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/

    Major,

So using FFMPEGX I can go from .ogm to .avi without any formats in between? I am assuming that I would just need to use a DivX preset, so do you have any suggestions regarding whether to use the libavc preset of the fast DivX preset? What is the difference between the two exactly?

    Thanks very much,

Yes. Use "DivX (libavc)" preset and set Audio track = 1.
