  1. Newbie just hooked-up SVHS VCR S-video cable to Canopus ADVC-100. No problems capturing video using UNLEAD VideoStudio 7, but I'm not getting any audio. It may be something really simple, but I sure can't see (i.e. hear) it.

I am using a new SIIG PCI FireWire and I believe it has a TI chipset, but I thought I read that the newer TI chipsets works ok with them now.

    Any ideas ?

The S video cable does not carry audio. You need
    separate audio connections.

  3. Thanks, now for one more silly question.

Is the S-Video cable a better (higher quality or preferred) cable to use for analog transfering over the RCA video cable ?

Generally S-Video is better quality but not all video devices (inlcuding most VHS VCR units) have S-Video. But if you can use S-Video then you should.

Also it pays to buy a good quality S-Video cable as the cheap cables suck and degrade the quality. This doesn't mean you need to spend $50 on a monster cable S-Video cable but don't spend $10 or less and expect a good quality cable either.
