I am suppose to recieve my dvd burner tomorrow. Pioneer dvr106, I am going to get it bulk with no cables. This is my first dvd burner and I don't know wheter I need any special kind of cable for it, or the same as a cd burner?![]()

If your motherboard supports ATA100 cables (the connection on the motherboard is blue) you should use an ATA-compatable cable (it has blue ends on it).

Yeah I got ata100. So I am going to use the regular cable I got right now then. Thanks to all for help.

regular cables will work just fine, but I guess there is something special about the blue ones...

Grounded all 40 wires, like a SCSI 68 pin I think it was, then Apple made the mini-SCSIwith a common ground in a 25 pin D connector.
For a DVD drive, the 40 wire should be fine..
