  1. Does anyone know if the bluesky DV900 player has problems reading svcd's. Does this have anything to do with the bitrate?

  2. Sorry, i haven't try SVCD.
But there is another problem with my player:

The player says (in the operation manual as well as on the logo on the unit itself) that plays mp3 files. I tried to play mp3 files from both Data-CD(mp3) and Data-DVD(mp3). The disks are recognized with no problem, and the lists are read correctly. Titles and folders. It also reads folders and subfolders with no problem. But when you play the tracks(files) the player plays JUST the first 15seconds of each song!!! All songs, within folders or not, and on both disks (CD and/or DVD disks). Why?

As i see from the manual and the menus, there is no INTRO SCAN or INTRO PLAY feature. But the players plays them as if such a featured was turned on (enabled). I did not enable or even found such a feature whatsoever!!!
Why does the player play only the beginnings of the songs? (then it just STOPS!).

Has anyone else the same problem??? Do you play all your mp3s normally?

    Ehm ehm, Bluesky??
    Careffour extrordinaire!!!

What sort of bitrate have ya used on yr SVCDs?
I have found that anything over 2500 might cause some trouble.

BTW, how much did ya get the player for?

  4. it turned out that the svcd problems were caused by the burning software. I haven't tried mp3 files yet. I got it for 55 euros.

yes, here in Greece costs 55e too (in Carrefour exclusively). It seems this is the Pan-European price !

Pls try mp3s (both on cd-s and dvd-s) and tell me! It plays only the 15 first seconds!!! eh?

  6. I tried mp3s on cd (I have no dvd mp3s) and it played fine. you must press "play" to start normal playback or it plays only the first 15 secs!!! I hope this works for you.
If you know the maximum suported dvd bitrate for this player pls let me know.

Bitrate? isn't it mentioned in the manual ?

(for the time being i cannot try anything. the player stopped to switch on yesterday unexpectedly. i think i have to take it to the service shop, so i will have news aftes some days!!!...)

Yes, you have to press play again.
The manual doesn't mention anything about the bitrate. I guess I have to burn some test dvds.
Good luck with the service procedure.

Thank you! (i'm afraid the power supply is burn!). Too early (only one month new!) to have a problem (too cheap?). I hope it is random, and not all these units of this model are problematic!

About the bitrate: Shouldn't it support the highest bitrate according to the DVD forum's standard? It should!!!

Thanx also for explaining for mp3 playpach (PLAY twice! - this is strange too! eh?)

why shouldn't it support all svcd's standard's bitrates?

of course, VCD is THE standard and SHOULD PLAY on any DVD player.
SVCD is more likely a "pc-world" format, and only recently DVD players got to play it too! It is possible that some bitrates are not supported!

But this view looks also wrong! Why?
As DVD incorporates the HIGHEST bitrate (much higher than VCD/SVCD) the player is able to handle higher bitrate that the one in your svcd disks.
Why cant it then play them? It's strange!
The only possibility i can think, is the it has to do with variable bitrate (normally it should play it as well)...
    or...
the bitrate you have used in not one of the "standards" (common used)???
I can't think of anything else.

Did you try with Standard Bitrate? (not variable!) ???
