Just curious as to whether the drive has buffer underrun protection; I've found no mention of it anywhere.

Yes it does, and it works pretty well. 2 MB bufer isn't much when burning at 5.5 MB/sec. NERO 6.0.0.19 or better supports it. DVDDecryptor 3.0.17 DOES NOT! Be warned it's a know bug. Don't lanunch any other apps or even bring a window off your toolbar. I assume Recordnowmax does as well.
