Hi everyone,
I have SW Technology media (2X speed) DVD-r, my burner is NEC ND-1300. I use Nero 6.0
When i burn a image it works good, no coaster so far and i have burn around 50 images.
But when i watch the movie it works great until around 60% of the movie then the movie starts to hacking and it gets worse and worse.
Someone told me i should burn in 1x speed instead it should help.
So my questions are:
If i burn in 1x should it be better?
Should i try another media? what media is good and cheap?
and one more thing:
When i load a image to burn i can only choose to burn 2x in Nero 6.0, how do i set it to 1x? should i use another burner program, if so what program?
Thanx all who answer!

Definitely sounds like a media issue to me.
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "good and cheap" media. Cheap media will give you errors on the extremeties of the media and good media is more expensive. Ritek is the only thing I use and can be had about $.80 for 1X and $1 for 4X.
Nero should let you select the burning speed from a drop down box before you start the burn process. I use Clone DVD and TMPGEnc DVD Author for burning, after having a few issues with Nero.------------------------------------------------

Gurm?
It's bad media, 100%. Get some real RITEK G04's for $1.14 each and have no more fears. I have the same drive you do and haven't had your issues (but I use Ritek or TDK exclusively). To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Thanx guys for the reply!
Yes Nero have a drop down box, but i can't change the speed, for me it shows 2x(2760KB/s) no other speed to choose -
Ok i listened to you guys, i just ordered
RITEK G04 4x DVD-R Satin White x 50 pack
I hope now to get rid of the problem -
Im having some problems with my optodiscs 2X golds and 4X + and - r's. I recently got a sony dru-510a drive, I upgraded from a dvr-ao4 which I was burning at 1X. I dont know what compelled me but with the new drive that I was burning I decided to check out the last chapters on the dvd, and sure enough the movie was not working properly. I tried burning at slower speeds, and tried alternating between the 3 different medias I have, all are optodiscs mind u. So Im thinking that it has to be the media, because the drive is supposed to burn everything, and im not getting any coasters, but the media isnt working right. So I too ordered RITEK g04's and im going out today to get some Memorex 4X dvd-rw to test if it is a problem with the media. And then pop in my old drive and get rid of, all the old media that I have

There's no reason to guess, and just cuz someone says G04's are great doesn't mean it's a good match for your burner. G03's burn great for me but the burns on G04's are unaceptable.
Get CD Speed (you already got it you have Nero) and do a transfer Rate test on a burned disc. With this you can find the media that best matches your burner.

Here's a good match/burn:
Here's a bad match/burn, which will mess up at the end:
Another bad read/match:
Obviously when you find media that shows like the first chart, you should stick with it. -
the red line is the capacity of the disc. you want the line to stay straight till the red line, if its gets all jumpy towards the end that means its having trouble reading the data on that part of the disc

Just wondering but you did not mention if you labeled the DVDs you had problems with. It is not uncommon for a labeled disk to freeze or begin to break up near the last 1/4 of a movie.
I do agree with buying Ritek media. I have burned literally hundreds with VERY little problem (actually none that I didn't create myself) -
To further elaborate, many use DVD Info Pro to check for read errors. That isn't really a good test. If you look at the last jagged chart, it's shows no read errors in DVD Info Pro, but the drive is having a very hard time reading parts of it (slowing way down). Depending on the standalone used, this could cause various problems (skipping, pauses etc.) at those points.
